Treated Lumber

A wood product that has been impregnated with chemical pesticides such as chromated copper arsenate (CCA) to reduce damage from insects or wood rot. Treated lumber is often used for the portions of a structure that are likely to be in contact with water and soil.

Wood may also be treated with a fire retardant.
