Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI)

A fast acting circuit breaker designed to cut off electricity leaks before they can harm anything in its path. This sensing device determines when electricity in a circuit is flowing through an unintended path (usually to earth), creating a hazard of electrocution and automatically cuts power to the circuit.

GFCIs are used in kitchens, bathrooms, garages, exterior waterproof outlets, and other 'wet areas'. It detects current variations as low as 5/1000 of 1 amp and breaks the circuit within 1/40 second.
