Charge Certificate

A certificate from the Land Registry that clearly indicates the boundaries of a property and gives details of any covenants that may affect it. It also shows a record of the deed creating the mortgage. If there is no mortgage on the property, then a land certificate is issued instead.

Since the Land Registrations Act 2002, which came into force in October 2003, Land and Charge Certificates are no longer needed, and have been replaced by the Title Information Document.
