Caisson

A structural support for a foundation wall, patio, porch, monopost, or other structure, formed by drilling a 3-4 foot deep hole (10-12 inch diameter) into the bedrock, and embedding two or more 'sticks' of reinforcing bars (rebar) the full length of the hole. Concrete is then poured into the caisson hole to secure the bars.
